Valley Transit, Appleton Public Library team up for free rides for kids on Wednesdays this summer
Appleton (May 29, 2009) -- Valley Transit and the Appleton Public Library are teaming up again this summer to provide kids and teens 17 and under the opportunity to ride the bus for free to the Appleton library on Wednesdays this summer by simply showing their library card.
The Read & Ride Free program begins Wednesday, June 3rd and runs through Wednesday, August 26th.
“Young people can use their library card as a pass to take them to and from the Appleton Public Library at no charge. With gas prices constantly on the rise, parents can save money by having their kids ride to and from the library for free,” said Deborah Wetter, general manager for Valley Transit.
“Reading is such an important activity, we hope by allowing the kids to ride free of charge to the library on Wednesdays, they’ll be more interested and motivated to read this summer,” said Terry Dawson, director of the Appleton Public Library. “They can look for new books, CDs and DVDs as well as attend events taking place on Wednesdays at the library and participate in the Appleton Public Library’s summer reading programs.”
Read & Ride Free is a collaborative program between Valley Transit and the Appleton Public Library, with funding provided by the Appleton Library Foundation.
